ML Input → Output — Construction-Logic H

The H built from input → inference → output • 8 marks • 100 / 32 / 16px • both polarities

Construction logic: the H is not decorated — it is assembled from the metaphor. Left stem = two stacked figure-units (input examples / sequence), crossbar = the inference connecting them, right stem = one solid resolved block (output). Remove the figures and the letter collapses.

Known trade-off: the solid right stem is heavier than a hollow left — variants use stroke weight / stem width to balance it. Hollow units fill toward 16px; ch-v7-favicon is the small-size carrier.

RationaleThe reference idea, cleaned up: two hollow input figures as the left stem.
ML / input-outputStrong — open examples (input) resolve into the solid output stem.
H legibilityGood; two stacked units + crossbar + stem read as H.
Small-sizeFair — hollow squares fill toward 16px.
RiskLopsided: light hollow left vs heavy right stem.
RecommendationStrong concept; use the balanced master (v8) for production.

RationaleTaller units; crossbar exactly bridges them so the left stem reads as one broken bar.
ML / input-outputStrong; same open-to-resolved logic, more "register"-like.
H legibilityBest hollow H — units nearly form a continuous stem.
Small-sizeFair; outlines thin at 16px.
RiskSame right-heavy imbalance; tall outlines feel slightly delicate.
RecommendationMost letter-like hollow option.

RationaleFigures are triangles — the most "abstract-reasoning test" reading.
ML / input-outputStrongest "shape sequence" cue; figures clearly aren't the letter itself.
H legibilityWeaker — triangles read less as a vertical stem than squares do.
Small-sizeGood (solid), but the H reading softens at 16px.
RiskTriangles can feel arbitrary / "play" iconography; least code-like.
RecommendationConceptually rich but off-brief on syntax; keep as a study.

RationaleBold solid figures — strongest silhouette, best weight balance with the stem.
ML / input-outputModerate — two units + output block, but no raw/resolved contrast.
H legibilityExcellent; clean bold H at all sizes.
Small-sizeStrong.
RiskWithout a state cue, the figures read as "two blocks," not "examples."
RecommendationBest balance; pair with a state cue (v6/v8) for meaning.

RationaleTwo solid portrait units bridged by the crossbar — the most "true H with one division."
ML / input-outputModerate; the division hints at structure, not state change.
H legibilityExcellent; reads almost as a conventional H.
Small-sizeStrong.
RiskClosest to a plain H — least distinctive of the concept.
RecommendationSafe/legible; least ownable.

RationaleThe left stem progresses: hollow example (upper) → solid resolved figure (lower).
ML / input-outputStrongest sequence read of the set — you see the rule resolve, then the output.
H legibilityGood; mixed fill still reads as a stem.
Small-sizeFair; upper hollow fills toward 16px (then matches a solid H).
RiskThree weights (hollow / solid / stem) — busiest variant; watch balance.
RecommendationBest narrative; strong hero/large-format mark.

RationaleThe construction reduced to its silhouette: bold figures + thick crossbar + bold stem.
ML / input-outputImplicit; two figures + output block survive, the nuance does not.
H legibilityExcellent at every size.
Small-sizeBest of the set; built for 16px.
RiskNo state cue (by design).
RecommendationFavicon / app-icon master for this direction.

RationaleThe balanced master: heavier hollow strokes + a narrowed output stem fix the imbalance.
ML / input-outputStrong — open input figures resolving into the solid output, as one H.
H legibilityStrong and better-balanced than v1/v2.
Small-sizeGood; hollow fills toward 16px — pair with v7 for favicon.
RiskHollow still the weak point at the very smallest size.
RecommendationPrimary master for this direction; favicon = v7.
